Coexistance
Coexistance and Modeling of Wireless Technologies in Medical Environments
Coexistance with existing wireless technologies is critical for any new wireless system. This also applies to new wireless systems being used in medical environments. Also, given the large amount of medical equipment found in a hospital (e.g. operating room, intensiive care unit), these environments typically contain a large number of scatterers inducing multipath interference. Finally, special wireless medical bands are allocated for use by medical equipment, further complicating the coexistance of wireless systems. Given the challenges in accounting for both coexistance issues as well as indoor medical environments, a need exists to further the knowledge-base in this area through both experiment and modeling to help ensure the success of new wireless technologies and systems in these environments. |
