Biomedical Devices for Remote Patient Monitoring

Given the advances in sensor technology and low power, wireless electronics, research and development of remote patient monitoring systems has gained widespread momentum. New challenges are being faced both in the fundamental research of new technologies targeting this area as well as in the development and deployment of these systems. A focus is given to new biomedical devices tailored to this area which will help provide low power, cheap solutions for the deployment of remote patient monitoring systems.

High Data Rate Protocols and Processing for Biosignals

New advances have been made in wireless technologies to provide high data rate (e.g. > 400 Mbps) wireless communication over short ranges (e.g. 1-10 m). These technologies have the potential to revolutionize the wireless telemetry systems currently employed in medical facilities. New advances in providing high data rate wireless communication for biosignals will help in the realization of these systems in medical facilities.
