IEEE Radio & Wireless Week

17 - 20 January 2027
Tampa, FL, USA

The Ninth IEEE Internet of Things (IoT) Vertical & Topical Summit at Radio & Wireless Week (RWW 2027) will explore the emerging role of Integrated Wireless Sensing and Communications (ISAC) for Safety and Security in intelligent IoT systems. The Summit is jointly sponsored by the multi-Society IEEE IoT Technical Community and the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S).

The program features invited presentations, moderated panel discussions, and interactive audience participation. Organized into five sessions, the Summit examines both the enabling technologies behind ISAC and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and their application across key industry verticals. These include uses in: (1) Manufacturing and Manufacturing Facilities; (2) Personal and Medical Healthcare; and (3) Urban Technologies in Smart Cities.

Recent advances in wireless technologies, artificial intelligence, and sensing have created an opportunity to transform existing communication networks into pervasive sensing platforms. By combining communications and sensing within the same wireless infrastructure, ISAC enables continuous, real-time situational awareness while leveraging existing spectrum and network deployments. Technologies operating in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) bands and using ambient wireless signals, such as Wi-Fi, can detect motion, monitor environments, and enhance security while simultaneously providing high-speed connectivity. They can also be used as touchless devices for detecting human activity and conditions. Unlike conventional optical sensing, these systems can operate in darkness, through smoke or fog, and in many cases through walls and other obstacles.

The Summit will focus on the following topics:

  • Integrated wireless sensing using mmWave and ambient communication systems, including Wi-Fi
  • High bandwidth mmWave communications and connectivity
  • AI and machine learning techniques for mmWave and Wi-Fi signal processing and sensing
  • Security applications of integrated wireless sensing and communications in urban environments, industrial facilities, and campuses
  • Safety applications in manufacturing, critical infrastructure, smart cities, transportation and urban mobility, construction, and healthcare

The Summit is designed for policymakers, government officials, technology leaders, product managers, practicing engineers, researchers, and anyone interested in the rapidly evolving role of integrated wireless sensing and communications in next-generation IoT systems. Participants will gain insights into the latest technical advances, practical deployments, emerging standards, and future research directions shaping this exciting field.

Please join us in person or virtually on January 19–20, 2027, in Tampa, Florida, USA , for this hybrid event. We look forward to your active participation as an attendee, presenter, or panel participant as we explore how Integrated Wireless Sensing and Communications will help define the next generation of intelligent, safe, and secure IoT systems.
